I get asked quite frequently, what is yoga all about and what’s so good about it that I do so much of it.
Well, for me yoga is not about being better than my neighbor in class, about getting that hours worth of exercise out of the way for the day nor is it about wearing the latest must-have active wear. It’s much more than that. For me, it’s about enjoying that time I have. I am a firm believer of making time for me every… single… day. In my practice, there’s no need for me to speak, but to just be in the moment with the music, the room, the mat, the outfit I’m wearing and to just melt away into my practice. It’s so addictive, that euphoric feeling I get when I’m so deep and in tune with my own practice. How my body moves, flows and stretches with the fabric I’m wearing from one pose to the next. It’s so beautiful when the outfit I’m wearing mimics my flow as it really seals my practice. Not having to worry about anything but just being in that one moment all by myself.
So, the other week when I was practicing yoga by myself at Barre Body Studio in Sydney I had photographer Eddie New came to shoot my own yoga practice for my readers (you) so I can share with you what my practice is all about. It’s so hard to describe these moments, so I hope that these images are as aspirational and inspirational as what I feel when I’m at one with my practice and what I wear.
